Creative Campus

Adaptive Reuse of a Church to an Art Center, opening 2023

With Golden’s Foothills Art Center moving their galleries and staff offices to the Astor House, AB reconfigured their home of 55 years, an 1872 gothic church, as an artists’ creative campus. The chapel-turned-gallery is now transformed into artist education space, with the addition of a ceramics studio and kilns, private and shared artist studios, and a dedicated home for Open Studio, a collaborative community of novice through professional artists.

Light will flood classrooms through the original stained glass windows, concealed for decades with white gallery walls.
